The Chandigarh Administration provides senior citizens with financial assistance of
₹1,000 monthly, specialized residential care, and heavily subsidized fitness
memberships.

Key benefits include free Day Care Centres (Sector 15), subsidized
utilities for residents at the Senior Citizens Home (Sector 43-A), and specialized
police registration

Key Benefits & Services:

  • Old Age Pension: A monthly financial aid of ₹1,000 is available for residents aged 60+ with an annual family income below ₹1,50,000.
  • Fitness Plan: A ₹999 annual fitness membership is available for residents 60+ (as of Sep 2025), allowing access to 21 sports complexes for activities like yoga, swimming, and gym.
  • Residential Support: The Senior Citizens Home in Sector 43-A offers housing, and the Sector 15 Day Care Centre provides counseling, computer training, and recreational activities.
  • Utility Subsidies (Sector 43-A Home): 10% of total electricity (max ₹3,000) and water bills (max ₹1,000) are borne by the department for residents.
  • Police Assistance: Online registration is available for senior citizens to receive dedicated vehicle stickers, facilitating police assistance and safety.
  • Day Care Centers: These centres offer medical check-ups, library facilities, and
    social interaction.
  • Health Coverage (Central Initiative): Under Ayushman Bharat (PM-JAY), all senior citizens aged 70 and above receive health coverage regardless of income.
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    Age: 60 years or above.
    Residence: Must be a resident of UT, Chandigarh for at least 3 years.
    Income: Annual income of the family must not exceed ₹1.5 Lakh.
