Schemes for Senior Citizens in CHATTISGARH

1. Travel Benefits:
- The State Government provides 50% concession in bus travel for senior citizens above 75 years of age and for one accompanying person.
- Women above 65 years of age are also eligible for this concession.
- Citizens above 80 years of age are entitled to free travel facilities.
2. Health Benefits:
a) Ayushman Card: Health coverage up to Rs. 5 lakh is available under Ayushman Card schemes for eligible BPL and APL card holders.
b) Health Camps: Annual health camps are organized for check-up of senior citizens.
c) Supportive Healthcare Services:
- The Deputy Director, Health Department has proposed free transportation facilities for bringing senior citizens to health camps.
- Free blood supply arrangements and establishment of one Excellence Centre for senior citizens have also been proposed.
d) Yellow Card Scheme:
A Yellow Card facility has been introduced in Government hospitals for senior citizens.
Consideration is being given to extending this facility to private hospitals.
e) Physiotherapy Centres: Establishment of adequate physiotherapy centres has been recommended.
3. Pension:
Pension support for senior citizens in Chhattisgarh was earlier Rs. 350 and has been
increased to Rs. 1000 from 2025 onwards. This includes Indira National Widow Pension.
4. Old Age Homes:
- Efforts are being made to ensure that elderly persons continue to live respectfully within their own families so that they may not need to stay in old age homes.
- “Bapu Ki Kutiya” facility is currently closed.
